Fau Vake death: ‘He who sheds his blood with me, he is my brother’ – Tributes pour in from Israel Adesanya, Dan Hooker and others

Fau Vake, a promising MMA fighter, and teammate of notable MMA stars like Israel Adesanya and Dan Hooker died after succumbing to his injuries suffered in a ‘coward-punch’ incident last week in Auckland, New Zealand. Vake was attacked by four unknown men, and had been battling for his life for more than a week. Sadly he lost his battle. He leaves behind a 3-year-old daughter.
The City Kickboxing gym headed by Eugene Bareman were left shaken after this incident. Teammates Dan Hooker, Kai Kara France took to Twitter to post tributes to the deceased star. Israel Adesanya posted a conversation between himself and Fau Vake in Instagram stories. Here are some of the tributes from the MMA community.

Dan Hooker tweeted an emotional message, “He who sheds his blood with me, he is my brother. Rest In Peace Fau.”
Top-ranked UFC flyweight Kai Kara-France tweeted, “Rest easy Fau! To show your support to help Fau’s family in these hard times. Link below,” providing a link below to donate to Vake’s family during these hard times.
TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter tweeted, “Tragic news. My thoughts are with the City Kickboxing team.“
Famed MMA reporter, Ariel Helwani wrote, “Horrific story. Senseless. My condolences to Vake’s family and the entire City Kickboxing team.”
Muay Thai Novice, Kyle who trains in Auckland, tweeted, “Rest In Peace Fau. All my love to the Vake family.“
Adesanya, shared images of an old conversation with Vake, alongside a teary eyed emoji. He was clearly shaken by the young fighter’s death.
25-year old Vake was a kickboxer, who recently switched to MMA. He has an amateur MMA record of 2 wins and no losses, with both wins coming via. knockout. May his soul, REST IN PEACE!
