Frankie Edgar vs Marlon Vera set for 6th of November at UFC 268
Frankie Edgar and Marlon Vera
Frankie Edgar vs Marlon Vera has been added to UFC 268 on the 6th of November. UFC 268 might be one of the most stacked UFC cards in recent times. It is headlined by a welterweight title fight between the champ Kamaru Usman and number one ranked welterweight contender Colby Covington.
Number 8 ranked Frankie Edgar will be hoping that he ends the last phase of his career strongly. The news of the fight was confirmed by Brett Okamoto of ESPN, who had learned the same from sources. This will also mark Edgar’s return to the Madison Square Garden for the first time since 2016.
Frankie Edgar will be forty by the time he faces Marlon Vera
Okamoto’s Tweet read: “Frankie Edgar (@FrankieEdgar) will return to MSG for the first time since 2016. Edgar vs. Chito Vera (@chitoveraUFC) has been agreed to for 11/6 in New York, per sources.”
Frankie Edgar is coming off a devastating KO loss against Cory Sandhagen at UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs Volkov. The Former UFC lightweight champion, will be looking forward to getting back to winning ways. He has been stuck in a rut of late. One can argue that Edgar is quite aged (he’s almost 40 now), but a string of losses gets one thrown out of the UFC in recent times, meaning he might be in the last chance saloon now.
Marlon Vera, on the other hand, is coming off a war against Davey Grant at UFC Fight Night: The Korean Zombie vs Ige in June 2021. He won the fight via. unanimous decision, also helping him bounce back off a loss against veteran UFC fighter Jose Aldo. The number 13 ranked famously knocked out Sean O’Malley at UFC 252.
