Glover Teixeira- King Mo vs Jiri Prochzka

UFC Lightheavyweight Champion Glover Teixeira is the face of not giving up on your dreams no matter the age bar. Teixeira had one hell of a year when he finished the preceding champion Jan Blachowicz to become the new light heavyweight champion at an astonishing age of 42. It took Teixeira two long decades to reach where he is today.

Teixeira is now on a run to defend his title in the light-heavyweight division and ever since the light heavyweight great Jon Jones has decided to let go of the division after a decade of competition, the division seems much more exciting than ever for Teixeira has entered the champions conversation but only time will tell how long can he sustain that status.

One of the most predicted matchups for Texeira’s first title defence is the one with Jiri Prochazka. Prochazka shot to fame with his monstrous run over opponents in the Japanese MMA promotion of Rizin FC. At just the age of 29, Prochazka has an overall MMA Career of 28 wins and just 3 losses, 25 of those 28 wins coming by the way of knockout. His record includes former UFC title challengers Volkan Oezdemir and Dominick Reyes, as well as current and former Bellator Lightheavyweight champions, Vadim Nemkov and King Mo.

Teixeira has definitely one of the most challenging fights in his career, someone who’s almost equal to him in terms of career finishes since Teixiera has himself finished 28 of his 33 wins with a losing record of just 7. However, Teixeira is going to make some prominent adjustments to his training and therefore has welcomed in the last man that defeated Prochazka, ie. former Bellator Heavyweight Champion, Muhammad Lawal aka King Mo. Mo and Prochazka fought twice and the former came victorious via knockout in the first fight while the latter came out victorious via TKO in the second.

“I talked with Mo because (Prochazka) was a backup for the fight,” Teixeira said in an interview with Sherdog, “Mo called me, we talked a little bit about it. … Maybe I’ll bring Mo to my camp, you know? It will be a good possibility. I’m good friends with Mo. Not just that, Jiri is a very awkward striker. Very fast with his movements, very good technique. But also he opens up a lot, and I think that’s how ‘King Mo’ got him. He comes crazy like that. He also leaves himself open for a good punch to connect.” [h/t MMA Junkie]
