“Got dropped”- Fernand Lopez fires back at Francis Ngannou and threatens to release “the whole footage”
Francis Ngannou and Fernand Lopez
UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou will most certainly go down as the scariest person to ever step inside the cage. Ngannou is the only UFC heavyweight in the active roster to have a 100% finish rate. His knockout wins over Junior Dos Santos, Cain Velasquez, Curtis Blaydes, Jarzinho Rozenstruik, Andrei Arlovski, Alistair Overeem and the preceding UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic speaks volumes across his legacy that is yet to be complete but is already on an all-time great list amongst the UFC heavyweights
Ngannou is all set to defend his undisputed title against his former training partner and interim champ, Ciryl Gane. As UFC 270 comes closer, there’s video surfing across the internet of Ngannou sparring with Gane. Ngannou took it to his Youtube channel to talk about it.
As per him, he and Gane shared 6-8 training sessions and the video was shot in early 2019 when Gane was fighting in TKO while Ngannou earned the biggest victory of his career that time, a knockout win over former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez. Ngannou claimed the video was shot to promote Gane, and now they’re using it to make Ngannou look bad.
“They were filming our training session to promote him for his fight,” said Ngannou “So there’s a lot of footage from those training sessions, but a lot of them never came out… and I know for a fact it will never come out, it’s about to make him look better, and make me bad you know, to prove that he is the man.“
“Stopped the whole training“- coach Fernand Lopez provides details on the training session between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane
Ngannou’s former coach Fernand Lopez holds a grudge against him, and he clapped back at him after his comment. Talking to LowKickMMA, he said, “He didn’t want me to release the whole footage because in that specific training, Ngannou ate a knee shot to the liver and got dropped. Stopped the whole training. These are facts. Francis was on his backside. If he’s saying this isn’t true, I’ll release the whole footage. But, my content manager didn’t want to release it because we have a privacy in the gym. When guys train in your gym, they expect things to stay in the gym.”
Talking about the accusations of manipulating the footage, Lopez said, “If we changed the speed of either guy, then we would’ve manipulated it. There’s no doubt that was Ngannou. But, that footage didn’t tell the whole story of what happened in training. There were so many opportunities where they got the better of each other in sparring. So could’ve we manipulated it?”
