“I’m gonna ankle pick you,” Gregor Gillespie issues a call out for UFC superstar Tony Ferguson
Gregor Gillespie calls out Tony Ferguson
Gregor Gillespie is not one to call out his next opponents but Tony Ferguson is someone that even Gillespie finds worth calling out.
Of all the possible challenges that the UFC superstar Tony Ferguson might have on his table, this one might be the most interesting one of them all. Gregor Gillespie, the lightweight fighter who has ranked three positions below “El Cucuy”, has issued a call-out and hopes to get a response.
Gillespie has called out only one fighter in his entire career, Anthony Pettis. Tony will get the privilege of being only the second fighter “The Gift” has called out. Gregor is currently 14-1-0 in his entire professional career and has only one loss to Kevin Lee. The fighter is coming off an amazing TKO win against Carlos Deigo Ferreira in 2021 and is now looking for an opponent higher up the rankings according to his Twitter call out.
Gregor Gillespie puts the ball in Tony Ferguson’s court
On his Twitter call out, Gregor said, “For the last 15 fights, people have been pressuring me and annoying me to call someone out. I never wanted to, but I think it’s time to play the game. I want my second call out to count, so Tony Ferguson, I think it’s time for me to ankle pick you in that octagon. What do you say?”
Though Gregor did not receive a direct response from “El Cucuy”, fans have speculated that Ferguson already has a fight in the making from his recent cryptic tweet. Tony posted a tweet that read, “Got the Signal” and “See you On The Mat”. Ferguson is currently 0-3 in his last three fights losing to top-ranked fighters.
Ferguson last fought in the octagon at UFC 262 in 2021. Out of the three losses, Tony has had a very tough time trying to get off Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush because of their elite ground game. Do you think it is possible we see Ferguson take on another fighter that is dominant on the canvas?
