Leon Edwards is the only fighter to takedown Kamaru Usman. He did it at UFC 268 in the first round of the fight. Usman would then dominate rounds 2 to 4 before getting knocked out via a head kick in the final round. He would then go on to lose the rematch at UFC 276.

In the third round of the second bout between the two, Covington appeared to take Usman’s back by the cage. Commentating on the fight, Daniel Cormier immediately called that the sequence was a proper takedown. However, the UFC stat team refused to acknowledge it as a takedown. Cormier was adamant that it was a takedown according to wrestling rules. However, in the UFC, a takedown is counted only when there is some sort of control attached to it.
