Islam Makhachev on Conor McGregor
MMA’s biggest superstar, Conor McGregor is out from action following a broken foot injury, he sustained in his third fight against Dustin Poirier. He underwent immediate surgery, and now he’s been doing everything to recover well and start competing again.
Even though he was out from the action, he stayed relevant in the lightweight division with his constant tweets and trolling. When Dustin Poirier lost the title match against Charles Oliveira, Conor called his shot, and he got a reply from the champ as well. Oliveira showed interest in fighting Conor, and this turned many heads in the division.
Justin Gaethje is next in line for the title shot, and he openly claimed that he would riot against UFC if they provide Conor with a title shot. Many athletes rallied behind him, but president Dana White believes this is the fight to make, especially if the champ wants it. Charles Oliveira has been fighting his whole life to attain this championship status, and it’s only natural that he wants to pursue the money fight against McGregor.

Islam Makhachev is another lightweight contender, who’s in line for the title shot. Dana White promised him a shot at the title after his dominating performance against Bobby Green in his last fight. Everything was good just as planned, but Dana switched up his mind as soon as Conor jumped into the picture. Now he wants Islam to get a win over Beneil Dariush to earn the number one contender spot.
In an interview with Brett Okamoto from ESPN, Islam discussed the possibility of Conor getting a title shot, he said, “I think this is fake… for the fans that make some interesting… but I think this (is) fake… it’s gonna be hard for him (to) make 155 because he (is) drunk all days, and you know, a lot of people are gonna smash him in this situation. He (is) just gonna fight versus Nate Diaz or some, you know old people (to) make some money, and that’s it. He’s never gonna be champion, he’s never gonna be compete (on this) level.”
