Ali Abdelaziz talks about Colby Covington's performance at UFC 272

While most of the viewers were impressed with Colby Covington’s performance at UFC 272, manager Ali Abdelaziz was unfazed by it and says he didn’t see anything special.

Ali Abdelaziz is one of the biggest figures in the sport of MMA and speaks out on who he thinks would be right for his fighter Kamaru Usman. The welterweight champion is lapping around the division and Abdelaziz has ruled out a potential Usman vs Covington trilogy in the near future. Ali believes Covington needs to put in some work and beat a handful of top-ranked welterweights before he claims his shot at the belt again.

UFC 272 saw Colby Covington take on Jorge Masvidal in a grudge match and the “Chaos” won the fight via unanimous decision after five rounds of domination. “Colby looked like sh*t,” said Abdelaziz talking to MMA reporter The Schmo in a recent interview. “I don’t think he looked good in his last fight.” Despite the unanimous decision win, Covington was dropped to the ground by Masvidal who eventually failed to capitalize on those moments.

They are not great fighters they are just good fighters. Kamaru Usman is a great fighter.”

Ali also has two of his fighters, Vicente Luque and Belal Muhammad fighting against each other. Both the fighters are top-ranked are looking to fight for the title next. However, the boss of the company, Dana White believes, UFC 273’s fight between Gilbert Burns and Khamzat Chimaev could be the potential title contender fight.

Belal and Vicente are booked to fight in the main event on April 17th for five rounds or less. Ali believes Colby should fight the winner of Gilbert and Khamzat to make a strong case for the next title shot.
