“Health first”- Jake Paul reveals the weight class he’s going to debut in following a move to MMA
Jake Paul training for MMA debut
At the start of the month, Youtuber turned boxer Jake Paul announced that he will make his MMA debut if Dana White accepts his conditions. Paul challenged white that he will immediately retire from boxing and fight Jorge Masvidal in the UFC if white accepts his list of conditions.
The conditions included guaranteed PPV revenues for UFC fighters, increased average fight purse of all fighters, and lifelong healthcare facilities for the fighters. Since then both White and Paul have been part of several online heated exchanges but nothing seems to have been finalized.
Jake Paul to fight in middleweight on his MMA debut
Jake Paul recently put on a tweet tagging Dana White where he shared his opinion regarding his weight class and what he is planning to do. Paul explained that he can follow the footsteps of other UFC fighters and cut weight in order to make it to the welterweight division. The boxer expressed that this weight-cutting procedure used by fighters to make it to a certain division is having extreme effects on their overall health.
“ @danawhite when I make my MMA debut, I could cut 20 pounds & do it at welterweight/170 pounds. That’s what all UFC fighters do and many have destroyed their bodies and minds doing it,” wrote Paul.
Paul also revealed that even if he can cut weight he will not do that and will fight at Middleweight because for him health comes above everything else. “But I’m gonna do it at Middleweight (185). Health first,” wrote Paul.

In the end, Paul shared two pictures of Conor Mcgregor comparing his physique at 145 and 190 pounds. “PS Conor walking around at 190.”
The first picture was of 2015 when the Irish had to go through an extreme weight cut to be at 145 lbs in order to fight Dennis Siver. The second picture was Mcgregor‘s current picture where he seems to bulk up to 190 lbs. The comparison shows the brutality of the sport and how far fighters are going to get the extra advantage.
