Henry Cejudo is often considered one of the greatest combat sports athletes of all time. Cejudo has an impressive career and a perfect nickname, ‘Triple C’. Cejudo calls himself Triple C because of his achievements as an athlete which include winning a gold medal and two UFC championship belts. The fighter in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, won the gold medal in 55kg freestyle wrestling. Following this, Cejudo became the youngest-ever athlete to win Olympic gold at 21, Which later got broken by Kyle Synder.
His wrestling background helped Cejudo a lot in his MMA career as he rose to the pinnacle of the sport. Cejudo fought Demetrious Johnson for the flyweight championship first time at UFC 197 which he lost; however, the second time, the result was different. Henry beat Johnson at UFC 227 and became the first ever Olympic athlete with a gold medal to capture a UFC belt. He also broke Mighty Mouse’s 13-fight win streak.
Later, he defended the flyweight title against TJ Dillashaw at UFC Fight Night 143 via TKO and then decided to move up a division. At UFC 238, ‘Triple C’ fought Marlon Moraes for the vacant bantamweight title which he won via TKO. Cejudo made history and became the fourth-ever fighter to hold two UFC belts simultaneously.

After successfully defending his bantamweight title against Dominick Cruz at UFC 249, Henry Cejudo announced a surprising retirement in 2020. It was a shocker for many as the fighter was at the top of his career with two championships under his belt, however, according to Cejudo he wanted some time with his family.
Despite his retirement, Cejudo never really left the spotlight and continued to stay relevant in the fighting world. The ‘King of Cringe’ used YouTube and other social media platforms as his medium to connect with fans.
Cejudo also stayed active as a coach and worked with various top UFC fighters including Jon Jones, Zhang Weili, Deiveson Figueiredo, etc. On top of that, Cejudo has always been open about his much anticipated UFC comeback and extending his nickname to 4C.
“That’s the only reason why I’m even going down to 135 pounds. These dudes are not on my level – none of those dudes are at my level. And they all know it. So if I have to go down to 135 pounds [and win back] my belt to challenge Alexander Volkanovski, that’s what I have to do,” said Cejudo in an interview with ESPN.
Cejudo’s ultimate plan includes making a comeback winning back his bantamweight title and then going up to 145 and challenging the champion Alexander Volkanovski, in order to get the featherweight belt.
