UFC #8 featherweight Giga Chikadze is on a meteoric rise to the rankings in the premier MMA organisation of the world, right after he left his kickboxing career in the premier kickboxing organisation of the world. The former Glory Kickboxing veteran of overall 46 kickboxing fights is now 14-2 in his overall MMA career, winning 9 of the 14 fights via knockout. What’s common in both of his careers as a kickboxer and MMA fighter is Chikadze’s dominance in the arena with his signature, the liver kick to the body.

Chikadze’s liver kick has bent down many names in pain such as the likes of Cub Swanson and Edson Barboza. Chikadze is now going to face the very tough Calvin Kattar this Saturday at UFC Vegas 46, whose experience holds to such an extent that he last fought a former world champion in Max Holloway. Kattar is someone who has never been finished and is himself known for his striking with his forelimbs that includes precise punches and elbow strikes.

In a post-weigh-in interview, Chikadze stopped by ESPN to answer some questions associated with his mentality going into the fight and a word about his opponent. “I got mad so I have extra energy,” said Chikadze, “Some madness energy now, you know, I’m gonna finish my opponent now this Saturday. Then I am ready to kick the champ guy’s head [to] somewhere in Bangladesh or wherever he is from.”

“I feel like he’s the toughest opponent I have faced so far,” he continued, “He’s the #5 ranked guy for a reason, he has faced the top guys and has knockout power… that’s why I feel like he’s the one to beat at this moment.”

At the Chikadze concluded the fight in his favour and made a major statement. I am the guy that turns strikers into wrestlers and that’s what’s gonna happen this Saturday too I believe, he gonna come out, he gonna throw a couple of punches and try to take me down but I am ready for everything when the Octagon doors will be closed.”

Who do you have it winning between Chikadze and Kattar? Kattar has fought the toughest battles inside the Octagon and his boxing is way more on point than it’s needed to win the fight, Kattar is a surprise lover with some tricks to deceive his opponents into a knockout whereas, for Chikadze, it will take just one liver kick from the Glory Kickboxing veteran to fold his opponents into a doom of body pain.
