Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor trilogy is very likely to happen says Dana White

It looks like Nate Diaz’s next fight entirely depends on the return of Conor McGregor, according to Dana White.

UFC President Dana White is very hopeful that Irish superstar Conor McGregor will be fighting his arch-nemesis, Nate Diaz, on his return from injury. That means the Stockton Slugger will have to be on the sidelines until his rival is good to go inside the octagon. In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Dana says that he would be shocked if the McGregor vs Diaz trilogy does not happen.

When asked if Nate vs Dustin is finalized, White said, “We are still working on that fight, that fight’s not done yet.” The trilogy on the other hand, however, seems more likely. “But I wouldn’t count out a Conor-Nate 3.” Diaz is on the last fight of his contract and is very eager to make his return to the octagon. UFC seems to have other plans for Nate though.

Diaz has been urging for a fight against the former lightweight contender, Dustin Poirier. Both Nate and Dustin seemed to have agreed to fight each other on personal terms but the company seems to be hesitating to finalize the fight. Diaz last fought in the octagon at UFC 263 against Leon Edwards in an exciting five-round fight. That fight took place in June 2021.

“I’d be shocked if that fight [Nate vs Conor] didn’t happen again. He’s chomping at the bit to come back. Realistically, if you look at everything he’s got going on right now, with coming back, and other things that need to be done…probably early fall,” said White on Conor’s likely return time period.

McGregor is coming off a loss against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 and is recovering from the injury that he suffered. The Irishman has made a lot of public appearances recently and has also shown off his skills in the gym. We could very well be seeing one of the biggest trilogies of all-time this fall.
