Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa

Paulo Costa mostly regrets having challenged the middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya to a bout, as he now has to live with the consequences. Israel landed some devastating blows on the Brazilian’s leg before sealing the deal in the second round via TKO. Israel proceeded to kick down his already fallen opponent by dry humping him before the referee could step in.

With his reputation going down the toilet, Costa tried to stage a comeback by demanding a rematch but Israel had others plans, that involved an attempt to become a double champ. Sadly neither of their plans panned out,but Izzy still retained his middleweight title.

Adesanya recently took to Twitter to share an NFT that mocks him humping Costa. In the clip, one can see Adesanya dawning the NFT as a pendant.

Israel Adesanya justifies his act of “humping” Paulo Costa

Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa

Israel Adesanya faces public scrutiny ahead of his controversial celebration after having defeated Paulo Costa at UFC 253. MMA fans took the fallen fighter’s side, claiming the act as unsportsmanlike.

Israel however was not all unapologetic. He thinks given the enemity between the two and the treatment received by his contender, his actions were more than justified post victory. He even believes the backlash received from the community can be owed to their homophobic personalities.

In an interview with the MMA Fighting, he tells, “I couldn’t give a f**k what they think, to be honest. I didn’t even think about it, I didn’t even plan it. It was just justified. Like, you know when you’re on ‘Call of Duty’ and you smoke someone with a head shot and then you go over them and then press circle, down, up, down, up, kind of tea bag them. That’s kind of what I did. What it is, is homophobia. People are just mad ‘why are you doing that, you’re not a man’ cause they feel inadequate. Questioning their own sexuality.”
