Giga Chikadze trashes Alexander Volkanovski
Alexander Volkanovski weighs in on Giga’s situation! Giga Chikadze received a brutal beating from Calvin Kattar at the main event of UFC Vegas 46. It was the first UFC event of this year, and Chikadze had a huge momentum coming in this fight, he had KO wins over Edson Barboza and Cub Swanson, and many expected him to put down Kattar in the first round of their contest.
Chikadze was very confident in his abilities, and when the featherweight title bout between Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway fell out, he asked Dana White to put him against the champ. Volkanovski wanted to face The Korean Zombie, and Giga called Alex a coward for ducking him.

Kattar was more focused on that task in hand, and he absolutely demolished Chikadze throughout the fight, Kattar bounced back from a devastating loss against Holloway, and he had everyone’s respect after that fight. Chikadze later apologized to his fans, and he promised them he would return soon.

The champ was keeping a close eye on the contest, and he was glad Giga got the reality check in his fight against Kattar, talking to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, he said, “This is it, my friend, you can’t count on just one kick. You know, the Giga hit. It just shows you that you override his Giga kick and it’s a punching bag. Again, man, that’s why you have to fight these contenders. Fight the best guys who will mess everything up. See where you are before you start facing the champion. Talking about tuning, game planning, cardio, all these tools I had, you could imagine – man, I would really make it visible, really bad. You can imagine.’
“Look at the people I fought. Look at the man I fought. Man, you’re a complete idiot if you think I’m avoiding fights,” said Volkanovski. “Max Holloway has proven to be the next best man. After winning it twice, I give him the trilogy. Who does this? Only men who know they have the skills to keep winning can do it. Guys who don’t forgive. Guys who have the ball and will do what they have to do.”
