UFC fans are in for a treat as Bobby Green takes on Islam Makhachev in the main event of UFC Vegas 49. The fight will take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada this weekend. Green is ready to prove all his doubters wrong despite being a massive underdog heading into this fight he took on short notice.
While most of the top 10 fighters ducked to fight Islam on short notice, Green didn’t hesitate once to take on this enormous challenge. Mostly because that’s how Bobby Green is. The fighter speaks about overcoming adversity in the latest episode of UFC destined on ESPN+.
Bobby Green talks about using his past as fuel for fighting career
In the recent episode of UFC destined, Green says, “I’ve been through it all. Sometimes I ask myself, ‘are you really strong or are you just f**king crazy’. I ask myself that all the time.” Green has always been very vocal about his mental health and his past life. The fighter was very close to killing himself in the past and now has overcome all adversities with great strength.
“I’ve been nothing all my life. So the fact that I get to feel like somebody, I get to be somebody…is really dope,” says Green in the promo. Bobby is coming off a win against Nasrat Haqparast at UFC 271 and is now on a two-fight winning streak.
His opponent, Islam Makhachev on the other hand is on a 9 fight win streak which is the second biggest in the UFC lightweight division only behind the champion Charles Oliveira. If Green manages to break Islam’s winning streak, it could turn out to be one of the biggest upsets.
