Joe Rogan is one of the most famous personalities in the world. The UFC commentator knows a wide variety of subjects. This is due to his close association with people from different fields of interest. His recent podcast guest was Dwayne Johnson. In his podcast episode with popular comedian Andrew Schulz, Rogan ranted about the strongmen from Iceland.
Schulz and Rogan are very close friends, and Schulz even considers Rogan the GOAT. Nevertheless, this is what Rogan said to Schulze about the strongmen from Iceland:
They're different humans out there, man. Those are Vikings. Yeah, there's a reason why he's that big. No bullsh*t, that is Viking DNA........... It's cr*zy, bro. Yeah, there's a whole country filled with gorillas, white gorillas that are just smashing p*ssies and lifting weights and throwing f*cking beer barrels over the top of train fences. That's huge.Joe Rogan via JRE
Apparently, Rogan believed that the Icelandic people were descendants of the warrior clan of Vikings. The Vikings are ancient Scandinavian barbarians who marauded Europe from 793–1066 CE. Incidentally, many of the strongmen competitors are from Iceland. This was the reason why Rogan had that kind of opinion.
Rogan has witnessed men with incredible physiques in the UFC. He has praised Yoel Romero, Paulo Costa, and Francis Ngannou for having an enviable genetic advantage. He even called the fight between Costa and Romero to that of between Greek gods. Even though his close friend Dana White is at odds with Ngannou, Rogan is close with Ngannou even after he left the UFC.
Joe Rogan explains how the Vikings operated during their heyday to Andrew Schulz
Joe Rogan is a big admirer of combat. So it comes as no surprise that the life of the Vikings inspires the UFC commentator. In a recent JRE episode with Andrew Schulz, the duo talked about Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson. Björnsson is an Icelandic strongman famous for playing the character Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane in the iconic Game of Thrones series.
Rogan also joked about Björnsson and his wife, Kelsey Henson, who is one and a half feet shorter than Björnsson. He then humorously proceeded to provide a brief summary of the Vikings. This is what he said:
Years ago, guys like him would be on a boat with a f*cking dragon in the front of the boat, and they'd have a sword, and they couldn't wait to jump off that f*cking boat and start hacking people to bits.
Rogan has one of the best seats for elite man-to-man combat in the world. He is one of the most recognizable figures in the UFC commentary booth. Unfortunately, Rogan’s appearance in the commentary booth is limited to domestic PPVs. Rogan’s association with the UFC is purely because of Dana White. If Dana White leaves the UFC, Rogan will follow suit.
