Joe Rogan was not in attendance at UFC 297, as the PPV was in Canada. Rogan only does domestic PPVs, and he also has an aversion to Canada due to Justin Trudeau. Incidentally, UFC fans in Canada made that aversion clear at the Scotiabank Arena. Rogan hosted a Fight Companion, livestreamed on his YouTube channel for UFC 297. In addition to Rogan, Brendan Schaub, Joey Diaz, and Eddie Bravo joined the livestream.

An interesting thing happened whilst they watched the main event between Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis. After round one of the bout, the group whiffed smelling salt and danced along with the background music from the movie Blade. It was Diaz who suggested that they play that music. The group stopped their dance as the fight progressed to round 2. At the moment, Eddie Bravo commented on the song that left Joe Rogan in splits. This is what Bravo said.

That's the kind of music that you B*ttf*ck to.

After the fight between Strickland and Du Plessis ended, Rogan and Schaub thought Strickland won for sure. However, they did not feel that it was any sort of robbery. Funnily enough, they even attributed the loss to the infamous ‘Drake Curse.’ Canadian musician had bet big on Strickland for the fight. Drake also bet big on Leon Edwards at UFC 296. He lost both times.

In the absence of Rogan, Dominick Cruz filled in at the commentary booth with Daniel Cormier and Jon Anik. Cormier and Cruz had a hilarious back-and-forth during the co-main event fight. Cruz supported Pennington’s actions in the fight whilst Cormier criticized her. Rogan and Cormier would never have had that back and forth.

Rogan does Fight Companions when he is not in the commentary booth. However, he does not do Fight Night events. He mainly does it when it is a highly anticipated PPV. Schaub and Bravo are regulars on his Fight Companion.
