It’s been 17 years since Nick Diaz knocked out Robbie Lawler at UFC 47. Joe Rogan has been a long-time Diaz fan and he had the best seat in the house when this fight happened.
Joe was following Diaz for a long time even before his UFC debut, he believes Nick completely changed the game of MMA. Everybody thought Lawler was going to win his fight against Diaz, but Nick stunned everybody, and Rogan wasn’t surprised.
Speaking on The JRE Show, Rogan explained Diaz’s unique approach, he said, “Nick Diaz changed the game in terms of his elite cardio. He did something that was a new thing. And that new thing was, he’s not gonna hit you with a hundred percent power, he’s gonna hit you with 50 percent. But he’s gonna hit you twice as much and you’re never going to get to breathe.”

It is not very often that you see fighters break down their opponents completely even before the fight starts. Rogan recalled the moment when Diaz stepped into the octagon against Lawler.
He said, “The first thing Diaz does when he walks into the octagon, he looks over at Robbie and goes, ‘Stockton, motherf***er! Stockton!’ And then he starts walking around and Robbie was like, ‘What is he talking about?'”
Diaz was known for this fighter mentality, and never back down attitude, the “Stockton born,” was banned from fighting for consuming Marijuana, and now he is getting back after 6 years. The rematch between Diaz and Lawler is scheduled for UFC 266, and fans can’t wait to watch these two go back at each other.
