Joe Rogan is an expert in the world of combat sports. His guests on the podcast regularly ask him about the world of MMA. Rogan always likes to discuss MMA and other martial arts with his guests. In an episode with Jared Cannonier, they recently discussed injuries inside the cage, especially leg or arm breaks.
Joe Rogan said, “I remember when Khabib had Michael Johnson, and I remember thinking just please tap please tap, just don’t make me see this man. He got you, fight another day. That f**king spiral arm fracture from that Kimura is so nasty.” Rogan said those are very hard to return from and could ruin ones fighting career forever.
Jared Cannonier is coming off an impressive decision win over Marvin Vettori in June 2023. Even at the age of 39, Cannonier continues to defy expectations and remain a contender in the stacked middleweight division. If he can defeat a top guy in the middleweight division, he could find himself on the way to another title shot. He is on a two-fighting winning streak after losing the title fight against Israel Adesanya in 2022.
Joe Rogan joined the commentary team at UFC 290 and UFC 291 alongside Daniel Cormier and Jon Anik. He is expected to join the commentary team when the UFC goes to Boston for the PPV in August. However, Rogan will sit out the PPVs in Australia and Abu Dhabi to focus on his podcast. It could mean that UFC 292 will be Rogan’s last appearance until the UFC returns to the US for UFC 295.

The fight became a game-changing moment in Khabib’s career. He dominated Johnson from the first minute and finished him with a Kimura in the third round. The Kimura was so nasty that Johnson had to tap to avoid permanent damage. After the bout, Rogan entered the ring to interview Khabib.
The Dagestani’s post-fight speech remains the best microphone moment of his career. Sixteen months later, Khabib captured the lightweight championship at UFC 223. He defeated Al Iaquinta through five rounds to claim the UFC gold. Rogan has witnessed some of the greatest moments of Khabib’s career during his commentary stint.
