Police brutality is an act of violence in America that remains even today. To this date, reports of violence by the authorities exist yearly. Californian rapper Ice Cube recently discussed such acts on The Joe Rogan Experience. O’Shea Jackson Sr, known to the hip hop community as Ice Cube, revealed the mortifying run-ins with the police he faced as a 9-year-old boy.
“If you’re gonna act like a thug, let’s thug it out,” said Ice Cube referencing the police. “We was kids on the bikes. Like, eight-nine years old. We got our bikes lay down, we made a ramp. We all kickin’ on the grass, resting, looking at our bikes. [Police] hit the corner, came all up on the grass. [The police asked us to] get against the car and all that. But we’re kids, they know we’re kids. What you think we did?” questioned Jackson to Joe Rogan.
Ice Cube sat alongside Joe Rogan and spoke on the cases of police brutality. Jackson faced a lot of trouble as a rapper due to his affiliation with the infamous rap group N.W.A. Their famous song ‘F*** tha Police’ reached national attention due to its suggestive nature. Despite being on the radar of the FBI since his rap career took off, Cube’s story about the abuse from law enforcement was truly heartbreaking.
Another story of police brutality is covered in The Joe Rogan Experience. The Californian rapper’s story about police brutality at nine years old was a terrifying encounter. The story shocked Joe Rogan as he listened to it. Rogan provides a platform unlike any other to discuss important matters in society. He remains among the most influential individuals of our time.
Joe Rogan on the impact on George Floyd’s death after extreme case of police brutality
The murder of George Floyd is one of the worst cases of police brutality. His death impacted the United States in a way no one had seen before. The UFC commentator Joe Rogan felt the same way as he and fighter Henry Cejudo touched on the effects that the murder caused. The popular podcast host discussed hopes for societal improvement due to the protests.
“Part of George Floyd’s protest in downtown L.A, the street’s filled with people. The people seem to be dedicated to change in a way that, I can’t remember anything like this in my life. This man’s murder has a real chance of changing the world. It’s changing America, for sure. To get people to be able to look at things in a better way. The protest is pretty f****** amazing,” said Rogan.
The UFC commentator felt as if the murder had a chance of changing the world. Although it did in the short-term, in the long run, police brutality had not been abolished. The acts of violence committed by law enforcement are still active to this day.
