“Israel’s not that guy anymore,” Jon Jones wants to fight Jan Blachowicz over Israel Adesanya says, coach

Jon Jones and Jan Blachowicz
UFC superstar Jon Jones seems to have a new fighter on his checklist. The former light heavyweight champion likes the idea of fighting Jan Blachowicz.
Jon Jones and middleweight champion Israel Adesanya were in the big picture for quite some time as both exchanged words on social media but also had hopes built up when Israel Adesanya moved up a weight class to challenge Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight title. Blachowicz outclassed The Last Stylebender with his weight and grappling skills as he successfully retained his title.
Jones’ coach Mike Winkeljohn recently spoke to Submission Radio about his trainee’s fights, progress, and the situation with the UFC. Mike says that a fight between Jon and Jan would be really interesting given Blachowicz’s strength. But the “Polish Power” took the other route and wanted to defend his title against Glover Texeira. “Jan, that would be the scarier fight, honestly, with the strength that he has,” the coach told Submission Radio.
“There’s no doubt about that,” says Jon Jones’ coach on the choosing Jan Blachowicz

“At this point, it would be Jan,” Winkeljohn continued. “There’s no doubt about that. If Jon was motivated to go to 205, he wouldn’t want to fight Israel because Israel’s not the guy anymore. And Jon wants the challenge and also understands the real world. And that doesn’t make sense to me either. You can talk all you want, but that doesn’t mean you’re the best. It’s nice when you’re the best and you talk, maybe a little bit just to sell the match.”
“But Jan would definitely be the one I would think. I’m not sure that jazzes Jon at the moment. Like I said, when Jon feels challenged and he wants to push, that’s when it gets really exciting for us to be around him and be at the gym.” Do you think Jon might give up on his heavyweight dreams and drop back to light heavyweight and challenge Blachowicz?
