“It’ll still happen at some point,” Jorge Masvidal is confident that the fight against Colby Covington will happen for sure
Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington back in the day
There rarely is a conversation about Jorge Masvidal without mentioning his former training partner and friend Colby Covington.
Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington are two of the biggest stars in the UFC of the welterweight division. From training partners to absolutely hate each other, both the fighters have come a long way. Masvidal has fought for the title twice and now Covington is preparing to fight Kamaru Usman at UFC 268 in November to challenge for the welterweight belt. Masvidal is very confident that he will meet Covington in the octagon sometime in the future. Covington too has not kept his peace as he is notorious for trashing his fellow fighters in the welterweight division.
Masvidal is eager to get his hands on Covington. Gamebred recently sat down with Ariel Helwani for an interview. On MMA Fighting’s MMA Hour, Gamebred spoke about his plans in the division. Masvidal is certain that he wants to get his hands on the welterweight title once again before he lays them on his nemesis, Covington. “It’ll still happen at some point,” Masvidal told Ariel Helwani on the possibility of fighting Colby in the future.
Jorge Masvidal calls out Colby Covington on his threatens
Ariel Helwani asked Masvidal if Gamebred prefers to fight Covington inside or outside the octagon. Masvidal replied by saying he wouldn’t have a problem doing it anywhere. Jorge feels like Colby has had a lot to say over the years about the fighter from Florida and Masvidal would like to see that in person. “That’s the best thing about me is I aim to please, so I’m going to give what the audience wants. If I ever see this guy in person, he said a lot of things I want to see,” said Gamebred.
“You know what’s really the funny part? Months ago he was talking about how he was going to call the police on me. Says if he sees me on the street that he’s going to beat me up when he’s walking around with the sheriff, like by his side. He’s got this older dude, a cop guy, a sheriff, and he’s going around yapping his mouth. He just wants to put people in jail. That’s what he wants to do,” Masvidal ended the conversation about Colby.
