The former two-division UFC champion, Conor McGregor suffered a gruesome injury in the trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at the main event of UFC 264 and one of McGregor’s biggest rivals, Jose Aldo is backing him this time.

Conor and Aldo can be seen very less coming onto the same page because of their epic rivalry that bloomed during their fight at UFC 194, but this time Jose Aldo believes ‘The Notorious’ is going to make a stronger comeback from his injury.

In his latest interview with AG Fight, Aldo says, “First of all, I’m upset with the injury, it’s quite hard, we work with our body, we try to keep it healthy because that way we can always be working.”

“I think he can get back to fighting at a high level. I never doubt the champions, the mind, and willpower of the champions. He has dominating before and was the lightweight and featherweight champion. It’s all up to him. If he wants to come back at a high level, he can do it.” {H/T MMA Fighting}

The former UFC Featherweight Champion, Jose Aldo is booked to face Pedro Munhoz in the co-main event of UFC 265 and towards the end of the interview, he can be seen even complimenting Conor McGregor for his performance against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.

Aldo says, “The fight was going well especially because Conor forgot his promotional side and tried to be the fighter and win until that leg situation happened,”

“But, man, I think it’s up to him [to return]. If he wants to come back again, he will work hard, abdicate from certain things to get there, dedicate himself and go back to the winning path.” {H/T MMA Fighting}
