“Just a musical chair at this point”- Calvin Kattar finds the “Best Boxer in the UFC” debate pointless

Calvin Kattar

Calvin Kattar is fighting Giga Chikadze in the main event of the UFC Vegas 46 this Saturday. Kattar is looking to bounce back after a complete whitewash against Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway this time last year.

Speaking at the media day ahead of his main event with Chikadze, Kattar talks about the positive things he took away from the fight with Max Holloway. Kattar said “It didn’t work out my way. I finished the fight the way I started on my two feet. Props to Max, he fought a hell of a fight and I definitely walked away from that fight with an understanding of the kind of what he’s doing and things I’ll take in with me for not only this next fight but future fights. I look forward to the round six with the uncrowned champ.

Kattar is not a fan of fighters claiming they are the best boxer in the UFC and says it is about the mixed martial arts and not just boxing. Also, he reflected how everyone has lost a fight here and there, so the point of being the best fighter is not something he is fascinated about.

Kattar said “Everyone’s catching on to who’s the best boxer in the UFC. This is mixed martial arts, you could box but there are elbows, knees, and everything. You want to talk about who is the best boxer, everyone’s got everyone at some point so it’s just a musical chair at this point“.

Calvin Kattar is fighting a rising contender in Giga Chikadze, who has torn apart the competition at 145 so far. Kattar is aware of Chikadze and acknowledges his 7-0 UFC record. Although Kattar believes Chikadze has not faced an opponent of his caliber.

It would be interesting to see who gets the win this Saturday and what the future holds for the winner in the Featherweight division.
