Kamaru Usman is in the best possible position a fighter would like to be. The welterweight champion explains which fight sounds more appealing to him – A fight with Khamzat Chimaev or a fight with Conor McGregor.
From absolutely no one willing to fight him at the beginning of his career to the biggest of names lining up to get into the octagon with him, Usman has surely grown to be one of the biggest stars in the world. If there’s one thing that Kamaru doesn’t need to worry about, it is the fear of running short of opponents. Recently, in an interview with TMZSports, Usman broke his silence on the rising superstar Khamzat Chimaev’s fight against title contender Gilbert Burns.
Usman absolutely loves what Chimaev offers to the table in a fight because of the hype built around him. Meanwhile, the Nigerian Nightmare also has a potential opponent in Irish superstar Conor McGregor, who is planning to return to the octagon for a welterweight title fight. “That’s two different directions,” says Kamaru when asked to pick between one of the two superstars.
“I mean they are both, good money fights. But let’s be honest, one is bigger than the other. I wouldn’t say easier because I have to train the same. I don’t care if he is the bigger guy or smaller guy,” said Usman talking to TMZ.

“That fight with the Irish…Conor has a bit more weight on it, in terms of finance,” said Usman on fighting The Notorious One. “But with the Khamzat, there is something so pure about just being in a FIGHT. That’s what you saw with Gilbert and Khamzat. That’s what you saw with myself and Covington 1.”
“There is something about that. You have never lived unless you’ve lived through that. You make a decision with yourself, ‘I don’t care what happens today, I am willing to die in here.’ I feel like with that [Chimaev] fight, that might take me to that place,” said Usman about fighting a guy like Chimaev.
“I love it and I want that but at the same time, financially, you got to drop the wallet on me,” ended Usman. Who do you think is a better matchup for Kamaru Usman?
