Former interim title contender agreed to fight against rising middleweight du Plessis on short notice. Owing to his injury, Gastelum will now be leaving Dricus with no fight partner on April 9th. du Plessis was initially supposed to fight Anthony Hernandez but pulled out of that fight to face the highly skilled Gastelum. This for sure is a disappointment for all parties involved in making this fight happen.

Gastelum pulls out of the fight due to an undisclosed injury. This withdrawal continues to be the bad luck for Gastelum in his recent fights.

Kelvin has always been a fan favorite. The middleweight fighter has never said no to any opponent presented in front of him and fought the best of the best. However, the one-time interim middleweight contender has not had the best of luck. Kelvin is currently 17-8-0 in his professional career.

Gastelum is coming off a two-fight losing streak. In his last five fights, Gastelum has managed to scrape out only one win, that being against Ian Heinisch. In Gastelum’s defense, the fighter lost to only the best of the division in the past few years. He is currently ranked #10 in the middleweight division and is looking to make his back to the top of the division.

There are high chances that Gastelum will be fighting his original opponent Nassourdine Imavov once he is ready to fight again. What do you think Gastelum’s next move should be?
