Kevin Holland and Daniel Cormier

Kevin Holland who has been struggling to find form of late has begun working with UFC legend Daniel Cormier to improve his wrestling. Holland had a splendid 2020. He won five fights in the year 2020 alone, after having his first fight in 2020, only in the month of May.

As 2021 began the opponents he faced became tough. He first took on Derek Brunson and was outwrestled like never before. The same happened against Marvin Vettori as well, a couple of weeks later. His lack of proper takedown defense was blasted by a legion of MMA experts and fans around the world.

In a bid to improve his wrestling, Holland has caught up with former heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier who is an exceptional wrestler. Cormier shared a video of Holland working in the wrestling room with a long message.

His coaches at home are the best too‘ – Daniel Cormier on Kevin Holland’s coaches

An impressed Cormier wrote on his Instagram, “I’m very proud of @trailblaze2top for taking the first step. Not only is he here he’s available and wants to work. He will wrestle again tomorrow then he will be at the greatest gym in the world @americankickboxingacademy with the guys. Acknowledging your issues then finding a way to deal with em takes a lot of maturity.

DC had words of praise for Holland’s coaches as well. He said, “His coaches at home are the best too, not trying to stop Kevin from trying to find better, we can help him in his wrestling. @travislutter has always been the man and he is showing by letting him come to train with me that he is the type of coach you want, the type that puts the athlete first!!! Onward and upward young man! I can’t wait for you to shock em with some takedown defense next time you’re in there.

Kevin Holland’s first fight in 2021, against Derek Brunson exposed a lot of weaknesses in the ‘Trailblazer’s game. He was outwrestled and mauled on the floor like never before. Holland was also seen asking wrestling tips from Khabib Nurmagomedov who was there at the arena. Brunson easily won the fight via. unanimous decision.

Just 20 days later he faced Marvin Vettori. The match was almost an action replay, with Vettori executing a middleweight-record 11 takedowns against Holland.
