UFC Welterweight Kevin Holland has proved his worth and it’s at welterweight as he shatters the stand up game of Alex Oliveira in the second round after getting dominated in the first at the main card of UFC 272. Holland has now kind of called out Donald Cerrone for a fight as both Oliveira and Cerrone has the nicknames “Cowboy” so he would like to fight another “Cowboy” for the sake of the narrative. Round 1: Holland starts the fight with a lead leg kick. Bit of low kick exchanges here and there. Both the fighters are patient. Oliveira grabs one of Holland’s kicks to rush in with a cross. Oliveira seems to throw relatively more powerful shots. Not much action as of now taking place 2 minutes into the first round. Beautiful low kick and Holland goes right into holding one of Oliveira’s legs. Oliveira picks up Holland only to slam him ferociously.
Holland and Oliveira exchange some very powerful straights on each other when back on their feet. Now the fight picks up the pace but gets back to being a patient matchup. Holland throws a lightning roundhouse kick only to receive Oliveira’s overhand. Holland is constantly throwing calf kicks, but Oliveira throws his own and grabs and slams Holland down to get back control and almost a rear-naked choke at the end of the first round. Round 2: Holland and Oliveira start exchanging early. Holland lands a big punch to Oliveira and sweeps the latter to the side of the canvas, raining down punches and blows one after the other, ferociously, only to get the fight stopped early in Round 2 and Holland has now found his comfortable number at 170 lbs
