“Khabib Nurmagomedov did not like that kind of talk,” Will Harris shares a very touching moment from his time documenting “The Eagle”
Khabib Nurmagomedov
Khabib Nurmagomedov is considered the best fighter to ever walk inside the octagon, coming out from the crazy mountains of Dagestan, the undefeated Russian fighter retired with a perfect record of 29-0.
Khabib ran through everyone in the lightweight division, and he absolutely demolished them inside the octagon, his fight against his arch-nemesis, Conor McGregor is one of the top pay-per-views buys in the history of the company, he defended his belt against Dustin Poirier, and retired after his dad and coach Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov passed away.
He was supposed to defend his belt against Justin Gaethje, and his father passed away because of Covid-19. Khabib was devastated, but he kept his promise of defending his belt and defeated Justin in the second round of their contest. Khabib broke into tears after this fight and announced his retirement.
Dana White was hell-bent on bringing him back inside the octagon, but Khabib promised his mother that he would never compete again, and he kept his promise. Now he is working with his team from Dagestan, and he is working with Islam Makhachev, and their dream is to bring the belt back in Dagestan.
“This is what mattered to that man,” Will Harris reveals the thing that mattered the most to Khabib Nurmagomedov
Will Harris documented Khabib’s journey throughout this phase, and he reflected on how humble “The Eagle” is, many people accuse Khabib of being ignorant towards others, and believing that he is the best in the world. After spending a considerable amount of time with Khabib and his team, Will claims they couldn’t be more wrong.
In a recent tweet, he wrote, “In my time around @TeamKhabib, and his crew, I never once heard him say he was the greatest or wanted to be. In an episode in Dubai, Umar said that Khabib was the greatest and he made me take that part out of the video. The guy did not like that kind of talk when it came to him.”
He also posted a photo of him with his dad, and wrote, “This is what mattered to that man… I am honored to have documented them both with him…”
