Khabib Nurmagomedov reveals that wrestling Zubaira Tukhugov gave him a ‘limp’

Khabib Nurmagomedov is without a doubt the greatest lightweight of all time. ‘The Eagle’ hung up his gloves after beating Justin Gaethje at UFC 254. With a record of 29 wins and no losses, it is safe to say that no one in the lightweight division of the UFC has a record close to that. The last three opponents Khabib decimated are a testament to his prowess – Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier and Gaethje.

In a recent interview with RT Sport, Khabib Nurmagomedov was asked about a recent fan incident wherein rumors of a fan trying to attack began spreading following a video that was leaked. The video shows a fan running towards Khabib, as the Russian enters into a lobby, flanked by security. The fan slips and falls (Khabib doesn’t notice).

Khabib clarified that the fan was just out there wanting to take a photo with him, thereby playing down rumors that he carried a knife and tried to attack him. The video also shows Khabib limping as he makes his way in, which ‘The Eagle’ revealed – was a result of wrestling with fellow Russian and UFC featherweight Zubaira Tukhugov.

Tukhugov is one of the toughest fighters in the UFC’s featherweight division. The ‘Warrior’ joined the UFC in February 2014, and has since fought 7 times. He has a record of 4 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw. Both his losses were dogfights that could have gone either way – split decision losses.

He hasn’t fought since his split decision loss to Hakeem Dawodu at UFC 253 in September 2020. He trains with Khabib, Islam Makhachev and co. What are your thoughts on Tukhugov’s future in the featherweight division of the UFC? Can the man who gave Khabib a limp, go the distance?
