“God always going to make you humble,” Khabib Nurmagomedov comments on Conor McGregor’s leg break at UFC 264
Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor
The trilogy fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier ended in the most unfortunate way, with McGregor suffering a devastating injury towards the end of the first round and Poirier being declared as the winner by TKO at the main event of UFC 264.
Immediately after Dustin Poirier being declared the winner of this fight, McGregor’s arch-rival, Khabib Nurmagomedov tweeted that good has prevailed over evil.
Khabib’s initial reaction came due to his history with Conor McGregor but in his latest interview with MMA Junkie, he stands behind whatever he said. ‘The Eagle’ still believes due to McGregor’s behavior before and after the fight, some divine intervention cost him this fight.
Khabib Nurmagomedov says, “There’s always going to be there something superior – more powerful – than we have, Sometimes when people become, ‘I’m this, I can do this. I’m smart because I’m strong.’ God always going to make you humble.”
“I saw yesterday or two days ago, I saw his coach’s interview like, ‘I don’t understand how this happened. He’s a strong young, strong man and he broke his foot, I don’t understand.’ Everything from God.”
Khabib added, “You have to become humble. When you become rich, when you become strong, when you become famous and then you think this is because of myself? God going to make you humble.”
Khabib Nurmagomedov believes Dustin Poirier is going to be the champion soon
Dustin Poirier will now face the newly crowned Lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira for his first title defense and Khabib Nurmagomedov believes he is going to defeat Oliveira in that fight.
Khabib added, “I really enjoy this fight, I’m really happy with Dustin Poirier. I think he deserve title shot, and I think he deserve to be UFC lightweight champion right now.”
Since his retirement, this isn’t the first time Khabib praised Poirier and supported him to be the champion. ‘The Eagle’ truly believes Poirier is going to be the rightful owner of his throne until Islam Makhachev climbs the rankings.
