“I grabbed his neck and pushed him away,” Khamzat Chimaev on an altercation with Kevin Holland

Khamzat Chimaev- Kevin Holland
Seems like Khamzat Chimaev was already back into action even before his return to the Octagon this week. The Russian-Swedish mixed martial artist told about an altercation with UFC middleweight Kevin Holland that eventually got physical due to Holland’s comments on one of the Instagram posts in which Khamzat wasn’t wearing a mask for some valid reason as per Khamzat himself.
Khamzat Chimaev returns to the Octagon after a one-year lay off at UFC 267 held on October 30, 2021, at Etihad Arena, Fight Island, Abu Dhabi against UFC Welterweight Li Jingliang. Chimaev is undefeated with 9 wins and his rise to fame came last year when he won 2 UFC fights in 10 days in July of 2020. Chimaev’s third fight happened in September where he knocked out Gerald Meerschaert in just 17 seconds. The layoff was taken due to Chimaev’s diagnose with Covid-19.

The altercation with Kevin Holland took place at UFC Apex in September last year, Khamzat detailed the incident. “Holland. He commented something under IG post about me ‘Where is your mask?’ when I was helping this one guy, but I didn’t know I was being recorded, he wrote something like ‘It’s all good but where’s your mask? You can infect him’ something like that. I came up to him in the hotel and asked ‘What did you mean by that?’ he answered ‘I don’t really remember but what about it?'”
“I grabbed his neck and pushed him away, then when people were holding me, he started ‘blah, blah, blah’ typical American thing, just talking without doing anything,” Chimaev concluded.
Chimaev’s return to the Octagon is against the very dangerous Li Jingliang who’s coming off a spectacular KO win over a tough opponent in Santiago Ponzinibbio. Let’s hope that Chimaev’s career stays active from now on following his long-lasting battle with Covid-19. Maybe a fight with Holland would make sense in the future if Chimaev decides to return at Middleweight.
