BJ Penn shook the world recently, and not just the MMA world. He is in the limelight again, but for all the wrong reasons and nightmare fuel. The danger was so much that fans have questioned his mental faculties. Now, Jared Gordon weighs in on what he thought was going on with the former UFC lightweight champion.

Recently, BJ Penn went viral for a now-defunct IG video post. The former UFC champ said the government assassinated his mother and placed a lookalike instead of her! Penn garnered attention from many who billed he was clearly not okay. Jared Gordon, though, did not think Penn suffered from something clinical. He thinks it’s just excessive nose-blows and methamphetamine — rampantly available in Hawaii.

What I have heard in the past and from rumors and things that I have heard… he had methamphetamine abuse disorder; [also] smokes weed probably. But meth is huge out there! …And knowing he’s acting the paranoia, like, the delusion, you know, — just screams meth…

Now, it’s not uncommon for those in the combat sports spectrum to hurl such claims at the government. Penn himself once went viral controversially billing Mother Teresa as a CIA plant; a trend that would definitely endanger some current relations if he on the active roster. The 46-year-old legend saw his release after dropping seven in a row back in 2019.

BJ Penn once also ran into trouble for a publicized DUI arrest and for hurling profanities at the arresting officers and those filming him. Jared Gordon, who has had his own issues with substance abuse, claimed that CTE, mixed with extensive substance abuse, caused this paranoia. Others in the combat sport spectrum have also weighed in on Penn’s state.

Chael Sonnen pitches in on BJ Penn’s current condition

MMA’s ‘Bad Guy’ Chael Sonnen is a different entity on his own. He is the American Gangster, prime instigator of bold topics, and has biggest biceps in West Lynn, Oregon. The retired fighter has crossed paths with BJ Penn a number of times. Now, his commentary about his ‘impostor’ mother has also taken his attention.

Sonnen has had a vested interest in his peer. An ex-Republican nominee of the Oregon House of Representatives, on ‘PBD podcast Ep#376‘, Sonnen said he wanted to be the Governor of Oregon. He has kept a close eye on Penn and others who had somewhat similar trajectories. The Hawaiian, never without controversial moments, already ran for governor in 2022 but failed to win the Republican primary.

In 2019, BJ Penn went viral brawling with a strip club bouncer! Despite the limitless strain of controversies around him, Penn has always been able to bounce back. He has also had a flare about him that made the controversies bigger than they sometimes were. Sonnen paid attention to the recent claims about his mother. But knowing the “performer” that he is, ‘Bad Guy’ thinks there is more to it.

I just know that I have seen BJ perform before. And he’s a very good performer. That would break my heart if this were true. It was 2008 when this happened, was it a letter BJ claimed that he revived, but it was from George team, …no plant in George St-Pierre’s team? I knew the whole thing was a work – and I’ve known him too long… Now if there’s something more sinister here that we have to deal with, perhaps I’ll have to come back and do a rebuttal to this…

For the fans and the MMA community, it’s certainly saddening to see the deterioration of such an athlete. Penn used to be untouchable; however, his current state does not instill much confidence. Sonnen, though, stated Penn was smart. So, this claim and his erratic nature might need a closer look.
