The new MMA vs Boxing event did not play out well for former UFC fighter Frank Mir in his boxing match against Kubrat Pulev.
Triller kicked off their very first cross-combat sport event Triad Combat with special rules where boxers take on MMA fighters. The inaugural event was headlined by UFC legend Frank Mir taking on the heavyweight title-challenging boxer, Kubrat Pulev. The main event fight did not go easy on the hearts of MMA fans.
The fight took place at the Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, and was live on FiteTV. The boxers on the card were represented by Shannon Briggs while the MMA fighters were represented by Rampage Jackson. Frank Mir vs Kubrat Pulev ended up in favor of the boxer as Pulev took only under 2 minutes to knock out Frank.
It was not easy to watch the fight if you were an MMA fan as Mir looked absolutely stunned and couldn’t stand on his feet, lying on the ropes as the referee stopped the fight in the very first round. Watch the moment Frank got knocked out below:
Twitter reacts to Frank Mir vs Kubrat Pulev
Both MMA and boxing Twitter tuned into this fight and gave their reactions to the main event. And it was not very monotonous. The audience had a very diverse reaction while some thought this event was rigged to some going crazy over the referee’s stoppage.
Mike Jackson was disappointed with the referee Dan Miragliotta. Fans and reporters believe the stoppage should’ve come in earlier before Pulev did this much damage on the legend, Frank.
UFC legend Chael Sonnen was not impressed with the event and believes the main event was rigged. While Pulev is an active heavyweight boxer, Mir is a retired former MMA fighter. “Solid acting, on a scale of 1-TITO, I’d give it a 7,” wrote Chael on Frank stumbling on the ropes after getting hit.
