Rampage Jackson was one of the top contenders in the UFC. However, during an episode with Tyron Woodley on his JAXXON PODCAST, he revealed how an incident with Dana White in Japan killed his love for fighting. Here is what happened:
Back in 2012, Ryan Bader defeated Rampage Jackson by unanimous decision at UFC 144 in Saitama, Japan. The fight was the co-main event of the evening. Jackson thought it was his last chance to fight in Japan. Therefore, he went against the doctor’s orders and did not pull out of the fight despite a torn meniscus. However, Jackson revealed that it was Dana White’s words at the post-fight press conference that killed his love for fighting. Reportedly, Dana said:
I don’t know what’s going on with Rampage,… I don’t think he wants it anymore.Dana White at a press conference in Japan
Rampage Jackson‘s relationship with Dana White soured after this incident. Jackson felt that White made unfair comments about him. This soured their relationship and his relationship with MMA as a whole. Jackson said that he was so unhappy at that point in his career that he just wanted to finish his contract and get away from the UFC.
He also said that he lost his love for fighting after what White did to him. Jackson is a former UFC light heavyweight champion. He last competed in December 2019, losing to Fedor Emelianenko by first-round knockout in Bellator.
