Chael Sonnen is widely considered as the UFC’s original trash-talking superstar. The fighter made trash-talking look like an art form, and it undoubtedly influenced his fighting career. However, as expected, his uncensored opinions offended many individuals, including Brazilian superstar, Renato Moicano.

The Ultimate Fighter season three saw Chael Sonnen clash against Wanderlei Silva as coach. The program was shot in Brazil and during the process, Sonnen and Silva got into a heated rivalry. As a result, Sonnen didn’t leave any chance to mock Silva as well as Brazil. This didn’t sit well with Renato Moicano back then who thought of taking some serious steps.

I was thinking about buying a flight ticket just to sucker punch Chael Sonnen when he was doing the ultimate fighter..He was talking sh** about Brazil all the time and I was very offended by that

However, Moicano now understands the reason behind Sonnen’s comments and doesn’t hold the same grudge. On the other hand, Sonnen and Silva finally got the opportunity to continue the rivalry in Bellator, which Sonnen won. As expected the trash-talking leading up to the fight was super entertaining.

Sonnen paved the path for other well-known trash talkers like Conor McGregor and Colby Covington. It’s a well-established fact in the fight industry that the person who can garner the most attention will sell the best. Renato Moicano himself is well aware of this and exhibits this in his well-liked podcast.

Once, Islam Makhachev had said that to make money in the UFC, foreign fighters should learn English. Renato Moicano did the same and started his podcast channel ‘Show Me the Money’ with fellow Brazilian Gilbert Burns. It was an immediate hit among fight fans who loved to see Moicano’s humor as well as his unhinged opinions.

During one episode, Moicano made fun of the youngest ever UFC fighter, Raul Rosas Jr for his looks. It got a lot of mixed reactions from the MMA community. While talking about it, Burns once hilariously mentioned how his friendship with Moicano has affected his other relationships.

Moicano is a character, that guy is funny. I have great relationships with so many fighters and he’s kinda blowing that up a little bit you know… I'm like, 'Why are you saying about this guy like this?' He gets me in a weird place. But I like it, it's funny

Other than random funny comments, Moicano also does fight predictions which are often pretty accurate. On top of that, the fighter is currently on a three-fight win streak and is #11 in the lightweight rankings. The Brazilian is currently scheduled to headline UFC Paris this weekend opposite homegrown hero, Benoit Saint-Denis
