“My next fight will be for the world title,” Leon Edwards is aiming for gold and is not interested in the Jorge Masvidal fight
Leon Edwards and Jorge Masvidal
Leon Edwards has had enough and is only looking to fight for the title next. “Rocky” shuts down the rumors of fighting welterweight superstar, Jorge Masvidal.
Leon Edwards is undoubtedly the unluckiest fighter in the welterweight division. Since 2015, the British-Jamaican has done nothing but stack wins. He is undefeated for the 5 years in the UFC octagon. Edwards has managed to win 9 out of his last 10 fights with one ‘No Contest’. He is coming off a win against the UFC superstar Nate Diaz at UFC 263.
Despite being on a fantastic run, Kamaru Usman will defend his welterweight belt against Colby Covington while Edwards is still left out in the mix. There were a lot of rumors that Leon will take on Jorge Masvidal for his next fight but “Rocky” has shut down those rumors in a recent tweet.
Leon Edwards won’t gear anything from a guy with 2 fight skid
Edwards in his recent tweet wrote, “My next fight will be for the world title I don’t want to hear nothing about a guy coming off 2 fight skid and Got ko his last fight.” Rocky has set his mind to a title shot that he rightfully deserves. But on account of the welterweight division being so stacked, there are very less chances that he gets the next title shot. Fighters like Masvidal, Gilbert Burns have called out Leon.
Masvidal is coming off a loss against Usman at UFC 261 in a title bout. Masvidal was knocked out for the first time in his career. Jorge has said that he is open to fighting anyone that will get him close to the title shot once again. Do you think Leon and Masvidal will fight each other?
