UFC London (Main event): Tom Aspinall manhandles Alexander Volkov to secure a first-round submission victory

Alexander Volkov (34-9 MMA, 8-3 UFC) and Tom Aspinall (11-2 MMA, 4-0 UFC) competed in a heavyweight contest at the main event of UFC London. These are some of the most exciting fighters on the UFC roster, and Aspinall sure enjoyed the support of home crowd inside the O2 Arena.

Round 1 – Aspinall was looking as calm as ever, and he moved around well to stay out from Volkov’s reach. Volkov was trying to walk him down, but Aspinall showed quick hands, and landed a three-punch combination to put him on his heels. Aspinall was looking sharp with his boxing, and after avoiding a big hook from Volkov, he secured a beautiful takedown.

Aspinall landed some brutal elbows that opened a cut on Volkov’s face, but after taking on some damage he got back on his feet. Volkov was tired, and he was trying to keep Aspinall out from the pocket. He attempted a head kick, but Aspinall dodged it, and secured another takedown. He immediately secured the side control, and secured the arm lock to get the biggest win of his career.

It was the biggest win of Aspinall’s career, and the whole arena was on his feet after his impressive performance. UFC’s middleweight contender, Darren Till was serving in his corner, and he immediately jumped inside the octagon to celebrate his win. These two climbed on the fence, and it was a moment to behold.

Michael Bisping was fortunate enough to interview Aspinall after his win, and after asking for beer, he called out for a match against anothe risning heavyweight prospect, Tai Tuivasa. He wants to take on the best Australian athlete, and Bisping was more than ready to give up his money for this fight.
