“Make it happen,” Gilbert Burns calls out Khamzat Chimaev for a 5-round fight in Brazil
Gilbert Burns - Khamzat Chimaev
Looks like UFC Welterweight Khamzat Chimaev will get the fight he would most likely be interested in, a top-ranked opponent that gets him closer than a title shot. In that case, who is better than the former title challenger Gilbert Burns. So far, after days of callout spree not too long ago last year, Chimaev has been called out by Neil Magny and Belal Muhammad before Burns took his turn. But it seems like Chimaev wasn’t interested in the potential return in investing to fight Magny or Muhammad.
To discuss the rankings amongst all the aforementioned names, starting from lowest, Chimaev is ranked #5, Magny is #7 and Muhammad is #5, at the end, Burns comes at the top with #2. Despite the rankings of Mangy and Muhammad, Chimaev waited for what he thought he deserves as a fight after his first-round submission victory at UFC 267 against Li Jingliang, that too, putting on such a performance after a year of a layoff due to Covid. Seems like Chimaev has got his wish fulfilled now.
Khamzat Chimaev instantly responds to Gilbert Burns’ callout on a positive note
Burns took to his Twitter to pull over the callout of Chimaev and posted a photoshopped picture of him facing off Chimaev at weigh-ins with UFC President Dana White intervening between the two and captioned the photo “Make it happen @danawhite I’m all in! 5 rounds in [Brazilian national flag emoji] [Gorilla emoji] vs [Wolf emoji] Let’s grappled! @KChimaev@ufc“
Within minutes after the callout, Chimaev replied to the Tweet with multiple “100” emojis, meaning that he is in for the fight too. When both the parties are agreeing to see each other inside the UFC Octagon, it seems like it’s up to the UFC now to get the job done.
Who do you think wins between Khamzat Chimaev and Gilbert Burns? Up till now, Chimaev has only been hit twice in all 4 of his UFC fights, with the last 3 of his fights getting finished within the first round. Burns, on the other hand, is coming off a significant decision victory over fellow former title challenger Stephen Thompson at UFC 264.
For Burns, he is waiting for a fight for a long time and seems he finally gets to fulfil the competitive hunger back inside the octagon through Chimaev. So in one way or the other, both are fulfilling for each other’s voids that were recently there in their respective fighting career.
