“If I can pick one will be Aldo”- Marlon Vera calls out Jose Aldo for a rematch

“If I can pick one will be Aldo”- Marlon Vera calls out Jose Aldo for a rematch

Jose Aldo and Marlon Vera

Jose Aldo turned the clock back as he put on a striking masterclass against fellow Brazilian Pedro Munhoz in the co-main event of UFC 265. Munhoz had no clue to Aldo’s speed and precision, as the former featherweight champion, kept unloading a barrage of strikes at constant intervals, leaving Munhoz with no room to come back into the fight.

The win took Jose Aldo’s win streak to 2, and the UFC great looks like he has still got a lot to offer. Following his win, Ecuadorian Bantamweight, Marlon Chito Vera whom Aldo defeated last year, called out the Brazilian for a rematch. Vera stated that he would be ready when “they call”.

“Rematches happen in the UFC” – Marlon Vera to Jose Aldo

Marlon Vera wrote, “Rematches happens in the UFC if I can pick one will be Aldo. Not far from reality. I’ll be ready when they call anyways.”

Vera and Aldo fought at UFC Fight Night: Thompson vs Neal on the 19th of December, 2020. Aldo won the fight via. unanimous decision, which also saw him bounce back from a defeat against Petr Yan. Since then Aldo has gone on to fight once, which was against Munhoz at UFC 265.

Vera, on the other hand, put on a Fight of The Night performance against Davey Grant at UFC Fight Night: Korean Zombie vs Ige in June 2021. Should Aldo accept this, it might play out to be an interesting fight. It is also worth mentioning that Vera was defeated by Aldo, after the former famously stopped Sean O’Malley in the UFC, handing him his first-ever loss.
