Matt Schnell believes Francis Ngannou is being ‘woefully dishonest’ about his fight purse from UFC 270
Francis Ngannou
Francis Ngannou has established his name as one of the biggest superstars of UFC. The French-Cameroonian recently defeated Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 and defended his heavyweight title for the first time.
Ngannou totally dominated Gane throughout the five rounds and didn’t give him an opportunity to capitalize. And the end of five rounds, Ngannou was declared the winner of the bout via unanimous decision and still the UFC heavyweight champion of the world.
During the promotions of the fight, Ngannou was very vocal about his recent experience with the UFC. The fighter revealed that he was getting ill-treated and was neglected by the promotion. As a champion, he deserves certain respect and promotion which the UFC is failing to provide him. Ngannou also raised the question that he is getting way less money than he deserves and he will not continue fighting for 500-600 K per fight.
“I know for a fact he got pay-per-view points“- Matt Schnell sheds light on other bonuses Francis Ngannou might have received after UFC 270
It was later revealed that Francis Ngannou got only $600,000 from his first title defense. This amount of money is insanely low for a fighter of his caliber. Every other sports promotion takes utmost care of its top athletes, and Ngannou isn’t happy with the treatment he receives from the UFC.
Rising prospect Matt Schnell talked about this, and he believes Ngannou is lying about his purse from UFC 270. In a recent interview, he said, “I also think it’s woefully dishonest that Francis Ngannou’s running around acting like he only made $600,000. I know for a fact he got pay-per-view points, he paid from Reebok, he got paid for this, got paid for that… He probably made — I’m not gonna say it, but way more than $600,000. So I mean, of course, I want to make more money, everybody wants to make more money. I’ll go out there and fight for it.”
