Michael Bisping crowns Marvin Vettori as the “next best guy” at the middleweight division”
Michael Bisping on Marvin Vettori
The middleweight division is ruled by the undisputed king Israel Adesanya. He earned his belt by defeating the former champion, Robert Whittaker at the main event of UFC 243 back in 2019. He has defended his belt thrice, and his last title defense came against “The Italian Dream” Marvin Vettori.
Vettori was on a five-fight winning streak, and many expected him to dethrone the champ. He fought really hard but came up short and lost the fight via unanimous decision. Marvin then took on another former title challenger, Paulo Costa in his recent bout, and he defeated him quite convincingly via unanimous decision.
Costa showed up overweight for this fight, and he refused to cut down the weight for UFC Vegas 41. Marvin had the choice of refusing the challenge, but he agreed to fight Costa at the light heavyweight, and he was praised by everyone in the MMA community. Michael Bisping was in the commentary booth for this fight, and he believes Vettori is a future champ for sure.
“This guy is incredible, man,” Michael Bisping was star-strucked by Marvin Vettori’s recent performance
Bisping was amazed by Vettori’s performance, and he believes he is the next best guy at the middleweight division, he states, “He’s the next best guy at 185 in my opinion, he’s doing tremendous things. I’m a friend of Marvin’s, I think he’s tremendous. That fight he had against Paulo Costa was sensational. I called that fight, I was right there, he won that fight fair and square but Paulo Costa had a lot of success and some of the shots that Marvin ate, some of those kicks and punches and the power that Costa has, Marvin took every single f***ing one of them.”
“Never took a backwards step and fired right back every single time,” he added. “It was a really inspiring performance. I was already a fan but after that I was like wow, this guy is incredible, man.”
