Ahead of his electrifying bout, Michael “Iron” Chandler makes an appearance in an interview with MMA Fighting’s Damon Martin talking about various aspects of his next fight. Many fans believe the UFC is feeding a Tony who is past his prime to an animal like Chandler. Michael is here to prove the critics wrong and gives his thoughts on why this bout is more than what people make it seem like.

“I mean it’s hard. His track record thus far would indicate that he has lost a step” started off Chandler in his MMA Fighting interview. “But you also gotta think, you can just look at the record and say he has lost three fights. Those guys you just mentioned, Charles Oliveira, Justin Gaethje, Beneil Dariush, I mean these are the top guys in the world.”

“When we are fighting up there in the top of the division, doing this round-robin against the best guys on the planet in 155 pounds, you are gonna win some, you are gonna lose some,” said Chandler who himself is on a two-fight losing streak. Chandler is coming off two straight losses against the champion Charles Oliveria and the current title contender Justin Gaethje.

In both the fights, Chandler has shown that he is a true warrior and can go toe to toe with the elites in the lightweight division. “Every now and then you are gonna lose a couple in a row, just like I have. Have I lost my step just because I have lost two in a row?… I don’t know it remains to be seen.”

Chandler believes the top 5 of the lightweight division could win on any given night and it is never an easy fight. Do you agree with Chandler’s comments? Watch his full interview below:
