“She’s the No. 1 fighter in the world and still improving all the time,” Mike Brown comments on Amanda Nunes’s growth
Amanda Nunes
Amanda Nunes is undoubtedly the greatest female MMA fighter to ever walk this planet. She is on a 12 fight winning streak, and she is set to defend her title against the number one contender Julianna Pena at the co-main event of UFC 268.
Nunes has beaten every former champion of her weight class, she is miles ahead of the competition, and he looked untouchable in her last fight against Megan Anderson. During a visit to the American Top Team, MMA Fighting had a chance to talk to her head coach Mike Brown.
Brown claims even though Nunes is at the top of the food chain, she is still working hard to get better. He said, “She’s just getting better all the time. It’s amazing. She’s the No. 1 fighter in the world and still improving all the time. It’s pretty crazy how much she’s still evolving and I think people will be surprised when they see her next fight, I think. For whatever reason, I don’t know what’s clicked with her, but in the last year, two years, she’s accelerated.”
“She’s trying new things, managing things—maybe her training—better. I don’t know exactly what it is, but she’s improving for now then [she has] in the past.” (H/T MMAFighting.com)
“It’s impressive and it makes you wonder,” Mike Brown believes Amanda Nunes is hungrier than ever
Brown believes Nunes is hungrier than ever, and the fact that she is working so hard shows her dedication to her art. He said, “There’s just more techniques added to her arsenal. She’s more composed, more relaxed, better vision, better octagon awareness, the whole thing all combined. There’s a lot of pieces to it and I feel like she’s really accelerated.”
“It’s impressive and it makes you wonder,” Brown said. “That’s what happens, sometimes. Maybe it’s confidence. With confidence, you grow. Your mentality changes, you do more, you can be more open-minded to a lot of different techniques, and maybe it just kind of snowballs from there. That’s my best guest.” (H/T MMAFighting.com)
