Modestas Bukauskas had an unfortunate end to his fight at UFC Vegas 36 as Khalil Rountree landed a brutal leg kick to put the fight to a halt.
Modestas Bukauskas took on Khalil Rountree at UFC Vegas 36. The light heavyweight bout ended in favor of Khalil as he won the fight via KO/TKO in the second round with a leg kick that is popularly known as oblique kick. The MMA world was riled up after this incident and called for this kick to be illegal. A lot of fans went after Rountree Jr for using this kick and injuring his opponent.

According to reports, Modestas will undergo an MRI very soon to diagnose his injury properly. After a lot of debate on whether the kick should be banned or not, Modestas, the victim of that kick himself came out in defense of Rountree and asked his fans to not target his opponent. Earlier today he updated his status on the injury via Instagram.

On his Instagram story, Bukauskas wrote, “Getting MRI when I get home…probably ligament damage…And yo please give my opponent some slack, that kick was all good, it was my job to defend and I didn’t. Let the man enjoy his victory.” Many fans in the MMA community believe that kicks should be banned. Fighters like Jamahal Hill and Kelvin Gastelum spoke out on this.
Rountree also gave his reaction to the fight and wrote on Instagram. “Overwhelmed with lots of different emotions. But I’m grateful for your support. Fighting has its ups and downs and although it’s entertaining to the masses is f*cking dangerous and anything can happen. I spoke with my opponent after the match and wished him speedy recovery because he will come back stronger and better as all great fighters do,” wrote Rountree Jr.
