“My feeling doesn’t matter,” Francis Ngannou on whether he wants to continue in the UFC

Francis Ngannou talks about his future in UFC

Despite all the celebrations after his amazing win at UFC 270, the champ Francis Ngannou is hit with the inevitable question of if his future lies in the UFC. The heavyweight champion weighs in on his current feelings and the situation he is in with the promotion.

UFC 270 came to an amazing end. The heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou made his first title defense against his former teammate the interim heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane in the main event. The fight was held at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California and Ngannou stunned everyone in the arena as well as the entire world by dominating his opponent in points and getting the win.

Despite the win, the champion’s future is not very secure. He is on his last fight of his contract and his willingness to continue in the UFC is on a thin wire. Heading into this fight, the champ, and the boss, Dana White got into a lot of despite revolving around his contract. Was this the last time we got to see “The Predator” in the octagon? Francis answers this question in the post-fight press conference.

The champion from Africa said in the press conference that all he wanted from the UFC was a bit more security in terms of his life. The fighter believed he deserved to be paid more as a champion and wanted to make some tweaks in his contract which the boss obviously did not agree to. “Well it’s been a long time and a lot of things have been going on and at this point, my feelings doesn’t matter,” said Francis on his desire to be a UFC fighter.

Francis says the sole reason why he is in this position with the UFC is that the promotion could not meet his simplest of demands as a champion. He also says he felt disrespected in the process of negotiations. And his future in the UFC is not a guarantee now. “I’ve been feared a lot of things in the past year, I’ve been expressing my willingness to be in the UFC, to have a contract….just to be respected,” said Francis.

“And the only reason why we are here is that at some point I wasn’t respected. He [Dana White] could have taken less to get this deal done but he went to a power position and get everybody frustrated. Get me frustrated and lose my desire to lose this thing.”

“I got into this sport…I didn’t grow up dreaming about this. I came in because it was fun. Then you get to the point where you find another side of the sport that is not funny and messes with your mind. But I’m pretty good and focus on the sport and hope things go well,” ended Francis. Who do you think is to be blamed for this situation the heavyweight champion is in right now? Is this a wake-up call for other fighters in the UFC? Let us know.
