August 20th marked the 5th anniversary of the legendary rematch of Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor at UFC 202. The Stockton Slugger went on Instagram to remind the world it was he who started began the “super-fight era” in fighting.
On August 20th, Nate Diaz took on Conor McGregor for the second time in his career at UFC 202. The first time the two superstars fought was at UFC 196 where Nate submitted Conor in the very second round despite taking the fight on short notice. Months later the rematch set where McGregor and Diaz put on an amazing fight for the fans all around the world. Both the fights recorded massive numbers in sales of PPV. The rematch went to the judges’ decision who favored McGregor after five rounds of domination.
In his Instagram, Nate posted photos related to the rematch and then added the caption, “UFC 202 Diaz vs McGregor 2: The start of the super-fight era. You’re welcome Floyd, the Paul sisters, and YouTubers around the world. It’s a new day in age I told you I was changing the game, Ariel Helwani. I might not get the credit, but I’ll take the motherf*ckin credit. Don’t forget before I fought Conor I was the biggest name he ever fought too.”

When ESPN posted a tweet remembering the iconic fight, Nate replied to the tweet writing, “He got finished off with a choke, That last fight didn’t even thangs out He’s still far behind but it’s Gucci”
Like Nate, Conor too went on Twitter and wrote, “Nate happy anniversary kid. Party tonight in Delilah,” poking fun of the Stockton fighter. In another tweet, he posted a picture of the two fighters and called that fight a “PROPER fight”. Who do you think won McGregor vs Diaz 2?
