Nate Diaz eyes title shot against welterweight kingpin, Kamaru Usman upon his return to the cage

Nate Diaz and Kamaru Usman

Nate Diaz is undoubtedly the biggest draw in the UFC right now. The Stockton Slugger is a bonafide gangster, and he holds wins over the likes of Conor McGregor, Anthony Pettis, Michael Johnson, Donald Cerrone, etc. Diaz is coming off from a loss against Leon Edwards, but during the final moments of the fight, he stunned Leon and that moment was so perfect, it overshadowed Leon’s victory.

When UFC Megastar Nate Diaz said he wants the Dustin Poirier fight, he means it and he is not bluffing about it. Going back to history, Poirier and Diaz were supposed to fight back in late 2018 for UFC 230 but the fight fell apart midway due to some reasons. Fast forward to 2021 and we get to know that Poirier is ready right away despite his title fight loss at UFC 269 to fight a super fight against Diaz.

In a brief interview with TMZ Sports, Diaz talked about various things including how he felt honored listening to hip hop legend Eminem name dropping him on his latest track “Gospel.” Amongst many things, one remark that stood out was about his retirement!

“I would like to fight Dustin Poirier like right now,” says Diaz “I’ve been trying to do so I didn’t mix up it’s him and them and the game. I’m trying to you know what I’m saying… I want to fight now what’s up Dana White let’s get this retirement fight cracking so I can get out of this,” Diaz concluded.

Apart from Dustin, one fight that sparked Nate’s interest is a scrap against the welterweight king, Kamaru Usman. He poked him, time to time, and Usman also replied to some of his tweets in the past. Nate posted this picture and dissed Usman for accepting only rematches.

Usman then asked him to pull up if he really wants to fight.

Now Nate has again posted a cryptic message, and it looks like he wants the smoke.
