“I would SMASH him…” Abus Magomedov calls out Israel Adesanya after UFC Paris victory

Israel Adesanya is the talk of the town, right now, but Abus Magomedov seems to take the champ’s glitter soon enough. To be fair, being a marketing genius, Adesanya is always the talk of the town. He has made a stamp for himself in the market, being a brazen example of doing exactly what one desires to do. He watches anime, paints his nails and is also a YouTuber now – he really does do it all.
Of late, however, Adesanya has come under fire for his “boring” fights. To clarify, fans have started criticizing the Nigerian-Kiwi for choosing to display a laid-back style to win fights. The point can be made in defence of those who criticize him, by looking at his past few fights.
Against Marvin Vettori and Jared Cannonier, Adesanya skillfully outpointed the two to coast to a dominating decision win. Although he could not sail to an exciting victory against Robert Whittaker, fans made much the same point – that, despite dropping Whittaker, Adesanya failed to pounce on the opportunity, and bring some excitement to the fight.

“We know how to smash this guy!” Abus Magomedov points out Israel Adesanya’s seemingly ONLY WEAKNESS

Abus Magomedov announced his arrival to the UFC in grand style – he knocked out Dustin Stoltzfus in 19 seconds on his debut at what is meant to be UFC’s first-ever event in France.
A vicious front kick that snapped Stoltzfus’ head back started the last move. Magomedov continued after that and delivered a right uppercut and a left hook. Three ruthless right hands greeted Stoltzfus as he fell to the ground, bloodying him and knocking him out.
After the fight, he called out Israel Adesanya to have a shot at the title. He said, “I would smash him in wrestling…We know how to smash this guy!” This is a reference to Israel Adesanya’s supposed weakness on the ground, although, he is probably the best striker in the UFC right now. To make the point clear, when Adesanya went up to 205 pounds to challenge champion Jan Blachowicz, he got utterly dominated owing to the Pole’s weight and grappling advantage.

The callout seems to be a bit premature by nature – this is Abus Magomedov’s first fight and win in the UFC. As of now, he is an unranked contender in the Middleweight division. Fighters usually call out champions when they are near the top 5, or in rarer scenarios, in the top 10. Magomedov’s calling out will hardly garner the attention of mega-star Adesanya.
Unlike Magomedov, however, hype surrounds Adesanya’s next fight against juggernaut Alex Pereira. A 2-division kickboxing champion, Pereira has defeated his arch nemesis, Adesanya twice in kickboxing bouts under the banner of PRIDE. One of those losses came by vicious knockout, which sent Izzy flying to the canvas. The title fight trilogy is set for 12th November at MSG. Who do you think prevails in the match between Adesanya and Pereira?
