The lightweight championship match at UFC 280 was one of the most anticipated fights of 2022. Charles Oliveira tapped out against Islam Makhachev in the second round of their fight. After failing to capture the lightweight championship, Oliveira faced criticism from fans online. 

Recently Pereira has spoken in favor of Charles Oliveira and criticized fans for trolling him online. He also added that fighters like Oliveira should be an inspiration to his countrymen and they should follow him to be a better citizens. Speaking on MMAfighting  Pereira said, “We should be examples“

Alex Pereira is going to face Israel Adesanya at UFC 281 in Madison Square Garden. This is going to be the biggest opportunity of his career as he gets his shot at the Middleweight championship. Pereira has previously managed to beat the current champion inside the kickboxing ring. Hence, he can prove a big threat to ‘The Last Stylebender’ championship reign.

Ever since his UFC 268 debut victory over Andreas Michailidis, rumors that he may challenge Israel Adesanya for the middleweight title were circulating in the MMA community. Moreover, Pereira has managed to earn a fight against the champion just after 3 fights in UFC this shows how big of a threat he is.

Recently speaking to BT Sport Pereira has revealed his strategy coming into this fight. He said, “Well, I’m facing this as an MMA fight. Okay, we’re going to spend a lot of time on our feet, but if it comes to the point where I’ve got to take him down, I will take him down.”

Coming into this fight, Alex Pereira has been training with former light middleweight champion Glover Teixeira. Without a doubt, Pereira would have improved his grappling training under Glover who holds a black belt in jiu-jitsu. Alex Pereira would be looking forward to cleaning sweep the trilogy with Israel Adesanya and becoming the new king of the Middleweight division of UFC.
